SunPower Brings Solar Power to Microsoft's Mountain View Campus
San Jose -

SUNNYVALE -- SunPower Corporation , a Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of the world's highest efficiency, commercially available solar cells and solar panels, today announced the installation of its industry-leading solar panels in the largest commercial solar system in Silicon Valley at Microsoft's Mountain View, Calif., campus.

The 480 kilowatt solar power system converts sunlight directly into electricity to power a portion of the buildings and equipment on the Microsoft campus. SunPower's industry-leading, high-efficiency solar panels were integrated into the rooftop solar system designed and supplied by PowerLight, Corp. of Berkeley, Calif. SunPower's solar panels offer up to 50 percent more power per square foot than conventional solar technology, guaranteeing Microsoft the maximum power from their rooftop solar system.

"We congratulate Microsoft on the decision to SunPower its campus -- reducing its exposure to higher electric rates while lowering its carbon footprint," said Tom Werner, CEO of SunPower Corp. "We're pleased to have the largest solar system in Silicon Valley using Silicon Valley's own high-tech, high-efficiency SunPower solar panels."

SunPower's high-efficiency solar panels are available for homes and businesses across California. SunPower offers an all-black solar panel that improves the appearance of solar systems while maximizing the solar power generated per square foot of roof area.
